Sammye Darling, BS, CPDT-KA

Founder & Executive Director

Sammye Darling is an honors graduate from Texas A&M University, who received her bachelors of science in psychology and minor in neuroscience. Aside from her academic achievements, Sammye is well known for her fervent love for animals and helping people. While growing up, Sammye spent time with an array of animal species and volunteered regularly for shelters, rescues and the special needs community. She also worked as a pet sitter and veterinary assistant before specializing in dog training. Sammye has trained numerous dogs, but is very proud of her first dog, Paisley, who is now a Special Agent with the FBI detecting digital media through scent. While in college, she enjoyed her curricula, recognizing the opportunity to learn about disabilities and learning theories and methods.

Early in her dog training experiences, Sammye started as a member of, and later became the Director of Publicity for, a student-run organization called Aggie Guide-Dogs and Service-Dogs. Through AGS's puppy raising program, she acquired extensive force-free and positive reinforcement and operant conditioning training skills. She then raised and trained several service dogs for Power Paws Assistance Dogs, Made in Texas Assistance Dogs and Service Dogs Inc., while assisting other pet owners with obedience lessons and handlers in owner-training service dogs. She further learned how to interact with and educate the public about service dogs, but learned even more about the impact service dogs have on their handlers. Sammye is the CEO of The Whole Shebang - Pet Services as her full-time career grooming, training, and boarding dogs in Austin.
