Please read our standards, which are outlined below. We agree to abide by these conditions under any circumstance.


STANDARDS OF TEXAS SERVICE DOGS

Our service dog prospects will be temperament tested for emotional fitness and working ability.

Our service dog prospects will be physically tested for physical fitness and good health.

Our service dog prospects will be trained to the highest degree of obedience and specialized tasks.

Our service dogs will be trained using positive reinforcement and other humane training methods.

Our service dogs will learn at his/her own individual pace and will not be placed before reaching adequate physical and emotional maturity.

Our service dogs will be placed with a client who expresses a desire for increased independence and/or an improvement in the quality of his/her life through the use of a service dog.

Our service dogs will be placed with a client able to provide a stable and secure living environment.

Our service dogs will be matched to best suit the client’s needs, abilities and lifestyle.

Our service dogs will be placed with a client able to provide for the dog’s emotional, physical and financial needs.

Texas Service Dogs will accept back its dogs in the event of a graduate handler’s death or incapacity to provide proper care.

Texas Service Dogs will not train, place or certify any dog with demonstrated aggressiveness or other behaviors that put the dog or others in danger. Our dogs will not be trained for guard or protection duty; only trained, non-aggressive barking may be acceptable in appropriate situations, although we do not place service dogs where this is considered a primary task.

Your donation enables us to raise future service dogs, equip our trainers, cover operational costs and place highly qualified, task-trained canines with disabled individuals.
